I’m sure you can all appreciate how challenging it has been to try and guess how many visitors are travelling and what hours they may be driving past!
With the current visitor numbers AND WHAT THEY ARE SPENDING it is simply not viable for us to pay staff to be in the store for more than a few structured hours a day.
Curtin Springs continues to work towards opening, for drive past traffic, in a way that is safe for our visitors and viable from a business point of view.
It is important for visitors to appreciate that small businesses cannot open unless customers are putting sufficient sales through our tills.
Small business can usually absorb these costs as part of their wider business – on the ‘swings and roundabout’ basis. And are happy to do so.
However, there has to be swings AND roundabouts happening.
At the moment, for us, that is simply not happening.
All of the small business owners and operators in the region would ask visitors to respect the services that we are able to offer, appreciate what is available in our very remote areas and please do not focus on what is not available at the moment.
We would also ask that you remember that every single service you expect - has a cost.
For the foreseeable future, the only opening hours we can commit to daily are 5pm until 7pm.
If it is extremely quiet on any particular evening, we will close EARLIER than 7pm.
Outside these hours we will open the store only if the takings through the till are enough to cover paying staff. However, we are onsite, watching the security cameras and keeping an eye out.
Call us and let us know you are coming.
We will continue to offer a range of services - on a pre-booked arrangement.
So, if you need fuel or meals or accommodation outside the above listed times, please contact us directly on 08 89562906 or email email@example.com to let us know what you need, when you are coming and we'll work out how we can help.
HOWEVER, you must do your part and plan your trip well, particularly as it's getting hotter.
Lack of planning on your part is NOT an emergency on our part.
Keep your vehicles topped up with fuel, fill up every time you can. Check on opening hours of fuel stops.
Please don't expect us to get out of bed at 11pm because you didn't get around to filling your vehicle over the previous 3 days!
If you are booked into accommodation, please plan your check in for well before 7pm. Please remember it is not safe to be travelling in the dark.
Dinner with a limited menu will be available between 6.30pm and 7pm.
Please place your orders at 6.30pm.
Breakfast and lunch is available between 7am until 2pm.
The campground and public facilities are open.
• Check-in for powered and unpowered sites is before 7pm.
We will continually re-assess if income from the campground covers the cost of cleaning public facilities and then make decisions as to whether the campground will remain open or closed.
We have implemented the Covid-19 food business plan (as requested by the NT Government). This encompasses staff training, physical distancing, room capacity, and strict hygiene standards. Aside from ensuring our staff and customers follow strict hygiene practices, we are also following social distancing rules across the entire site.
